Pet Theft Awareness
Ruff-ly 2 million fur-kids are stolen every year in the U.S. Sadly, only 10 percent of stolen pets ever make their way back to their families – others are used as bait for dog fights, bred in a puppy mill, sold to labs that do animal testing, or face other cruel fates.
At Buckhead Paws, we CARE about the safety of your fur-babies and want to help you protect them. Here are some suggestions to help keep your beloved pets safe and sound:
- Never leave your barking buddy alone in a yard, car, or tethered outside a place of business, even for a moment – it’s all the time a thief needs.
- Having your pet spayed or neutered will help lessen your fur-kid’s tendency to want to roam and will also keep thieves that are stealing dogs to breed from taking your baby.
- Don’t forget to have your fur-kid microchipped. Many pets have been reunited with their owners even YEARS later because of microchips. Affix an ID tag to your pet and make sure that you keep it and your microchip information updated if you move.
