I’ve written in the past about our core values, The FACES of Buckhead Paws: Fun, Adaptable, Confident, Efficient, and Supportive. They’ve been our guiding star since 2018. We hire people who demonstrate these values in their daily lives, and, unfortunately, we’ve fired people who didn’t live up to them..
Every time Charles and I interview a prospective new team member, we look for someone who wants to be part of a team, who “plays well with others,” and whom other team members know they can count on in a pinch. I’m very proud of how we, as a team, live the core value of “Supportive” almost every day.
We had a great example just Sunday evening when Victoria left her home at 7:00pm to visit a client, and her car suddenly stopped, dead, in the middle of the road. She sent a message to the office, and within two minutes, Office Assistant Robin responded. She messaged the three other team members who know this client, and four minutes later, Rachel answered, saying she could go. She even offered to meet Victoria to give her a ride! And the client’s kitties were loved and cared for without missing a beat!
On Saturday, the newest team member, Braxton, was scheduled for a midday client visit. But the night before, she had come down with a fever, chills, aches, and sweats. She was a sick puppy! Charles to the rescue! Though he didn’t know the client, she was home. Charles met her and her pup, and he made a new friend. Meanwhile, Braxton was able to recover.
Car trouble struck again a week ago. Mitchell’s car also stopped suddenly when its fuel pump died. Since it was right before the weekend, his car was out of commission until at least Monday. Another new team member, Mario, covered an Overnight Pet Sit for Mitchell, while Tava rearranged her schedule to cover visits for Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, Janna went to Mitchell’s home and picked him up so they could meet a client together. And Monday afternoon, Mitchell’s car was back on the road!
These three examples highlight our supportive team, but we help each other all the time. I’m proud of how our people pitch in to support each other — even when it’s not convenient. We do it because we care — we care about each other, and we care about you and your pets. Thank you for asking us to be of service.
